Here are some things I am learning:)

1-I need to start a strict anti-candida diet! The ND is going to have me do a test that we send off that tells how bad it is and what strand of yeast I have. We can then proceed to treat accordingly with herbal/natural supplements. Main point-I have severe candida!!

2-I learned today that green monsters without ANY fruit are REALLY nasty!! ‘Nuff said! That also means I learned that breakfast on high raw, anti-candida is going to be tricky! Any ideas?

3– I learned that I like raw rutabaga blended with garlic, olive oil, salt etc. These were supposed to be patties, but didn’t quiet work the way they were supposed to. So, I learned that they make great croutons!

This is my salad I packed for lunch today. It had:

romaine, english cucumber, yellow pepper, cherry tomatoes, carrots, sprouts, sprouted black quinoa, and broken up rutabaga “patties”

4-I learned that raw broccoli is NOT my friend. I didn’t take a picture. For snack today, I had raw broccoli with some black bean dip.

5-I learned that I LOVE Gena’s BEST. SOUP. EVER.!!

BEST.EVER.SOUP I do not typically like raw soups at all, but this one, well it was a different story!

6-I then proceeded to learn that butternut is probably not good for candida. Not sure about that though. Raw foods have less sugar and carbs than cooked food. Any info. here?

7-I learned that chia pudding has a very weird texture that I’m not sure I like.

Raw cocoa chia pudding

I tasted this and stuck it back in the fridge. Will taste again later:)

8-I learned that this is my favorite raw meal so far:

Raw bread with tomato, sprouts and raw cheese with coleslaw

9-I learned that cheese is a no-no for anti-candida diet:( I rarely ever have it, but it’s nice every once in a while. So long cheese!

10-I learned that functioning on VERY little sleep is TORTURE when you have to go clean someone’s house!! I NEED SLEEP!!!

There– I learned at least TEN new things today!! Never too old to learn!:)

Have you learned anything new today? I also learned that I can’t spell or type very well today!LOL!

I had an interesting conversation with one of my clients the other day. Well, it was more like she did all the talking and I just let what she was saying go in one ear and out the other. For those of you that are fairly new to reading my blog, I clean houses for a living. Sometimes the people are there and sometimes they aren’t. I would much rather them NOT be there. So anyway, this lady I was cleaning for is a Christian. I am also a Christian and it’s nice to have clients that are. I was talking to her and just mentioned the word Yoga and it opened up a whole nasty can of worms! She was telling me that yoga can cause people to worship satan and not realize it. Okay, first of all, I think if I were worshiping satan–I WOULD KNOW IT!! Secondly, I know that my God loves me enough to let me know when something is a little cooky!!

This conversation got me to thinking about how people–even me sometimes–can speak out of total ignorance. I’m not saying they are stupid. I just mean that they don’t really know enough about what they are condemning to judge it negatively. This has happened to me SO many times with my diet.  When this client first started saying this stuff to me about yoga, I was tempted to get angry. Then I realized that she just really doesn’t understand yoga. She went to ONE class that was a negative experience. Therefore, in her mind, ALL yoga is BAD! I thought it was interesting that I had this conversation right after I had read this blog entry at Yogiclarebear’s blog. When I read the post by Clare, I thought it must be a very uncommon thing for people to say that yoga is of the devil. Well, I think differently now. I guess a lot of people can have a negative view of yoga, but I’m not one of them. I’m also thankful for Polly’s blog. Her blog is what helped me realize that you can be a Christian and still enjoy Yoga. I don’t know if I would have ventured into yoga otherwise. Thanks Polly:)

Okay, enough about yoga! Here are some random pics I have been taking and haven’t had time to post:

Hubby bought me a new juice bottle:) Holds almost a whole quart which is my juice for the day!

That sandwich was made with Gluten free/ grain free sprouted bread. I still need to post the recipe for this, but haven’t had time. Trust me it’s yummy! It seems like brussels are all the rage these days in the bloggie world. I know I’m lovin’ em!

Hope you all have a fabulous Saturday! I am hanging out at home feeling a little (okay, a lot) drained. I have been at my mom’s more than I have been home this week. She is recovering well from her knee surgery, but still needs lots of help.

Question: Have you ever had someone judge you about something they know nothing about? How do you handle it–get angry or let it go?

P.S. Just wanted to say a BIG thank you to all you lovely people that have been visiting and commenting on my blog!!!!

First of all, I NEED A SPIRALIZER!!! Okay, I got that off my chest:) I made spaghetti for the rest of the family tonight for dinner and I was NOT in the mood for a salad–gasp! My tummy has been pretty messed up since yesterday afternoon and I have had more trips to the bathroom than I care to count(TMI:). I had to call the ND today and she encouraged me to keep my meals simple (aka. no more raw cereal with 3 different seeds and raisins!). Too many ingredients are not always good for a fussy gut.

I really wanted spaghetti. It used to be one of my favorite meals with some yummy hot garlic toast. Considering that probably would have put me in my grave, I decided cheating was out of the question:) So, spiralizing–by hand–I went. I had zucchini ‘noodles’ with shredded organic carrots. I topped it with the Raw Caesar Dressing from Natalie Rose’s book. I then put it on top of a little spinach. I also had a piece of raw cheese. Not too complicated (no seeds) of a meal, but really tasty and satisfying.

Nothing special, but it made me happy:)

I don’t know where I have been in the yoga department lately because I just today finally did my first Yogadownload class. I am hooked!! Just let me say that buying yoga classes online could be a dangerous thing for me:) I did the 35 minute Power Yoga #4–for FREE! For some reason, I have been feeling like if I can’t do at least an hour of yoga, its not worth doing. I AM an ‘all or nothing’ person by the way. Because of thinking that way, I wasn’t doing ANY yoga this past week–duh!! Do I need a lesson in moderation? YES! My body started missing the mat in a BIG way! I can’t even explain the health benefits that I feel like yoga gives me.

So, today I did the 35 minute class in the morning, a 20 minute breathing class in the afternoon (to relax:), and the rebounder for 30 minutes instead of walking for an hour. Check out Maggie’s post about the benefits of rebounding. Who says you have to get in all your exercise at one time? Breaking it up made it easier to fit in what I wanted to do without killing myself. If you like yoga and have never checked out Yogadownload–Just do it!! You’ll be glad you did:)

Well, that’s all for now folks! I have spaghetti dishes a-waitin’.

Do you have an old favorite meal that you miss?

COCONUT!!

I don’t know what is up with me and coconut mishaps lately, but boy am I getting annoyed! Okay, let me back up. In my last post I was sharing how my blender was messed up and caused all sorts of problems in my attempt to make coconut milk. Well, a couple of days ago, I was making raw coconut milk–in my NEW blender–and I was planning on using the pulp from the coconut milk for something else.

blog pictures 686After making this milk, I had the towel that I squeezed the milk through laying on the dehydrater. I was planning on drying the pulp to use it in some raw coconut treats that the ND said I could try. Well, about two minutes before I was ready to put the pulp in the dehydrater, my son walked in. He proceeded to pick up a towel to dry his hands and guess which one he picked?! Yep, the one that had coconut pulp in it! My beloved coconut went ALL over the floor! It was a total accident, but I cried none-the-less. No pictures of the mishap because who wants to take pictures when they are crying! Well, I got over it and my hubby went and bought me more coconuts the next day:) I just have to start over now for the raw dry coconut treats.  I have heard the saying all my life–“Don’t cry over spilled milk” but in my case it was coconut!

Here is another new coconut experiment that I made lately.

blog pictures 677Wine cooler anyone? This isn’t really a wine cooler, but I bet if I drank enough of it, I could get pretty toasted! This is coconut water kefir diluted with plain coconut water and cherries. This kefir is POTENT!! You can read here how to make it and the benefits of it. It does have sort of a wine cooler taste which I am not a big fan of. It’s not bad diluted though because the plain coconut water sweetens it some. There is NO way I could drink this kefir straight! Anyway, just some food drink for thought.

Another experiment:

raw sweet tator chips

raw sweet tator chips

These were pretty tasty, but a little hard on my sensitive gut. If I make them again, I would also try to slice them a little thinner. I put them in a gallon size bag with coconut oil, cinnamon and a little salt and shook to coat. Then dehydrated until crispy.

Lunch yesterday:

raw spinach and sunflower seed 'burger'

raw spinach and sunflower seed 'burger'

This is something else the ND told me about (only she used carrots). I blended up spinach, soaked sunflower seeds, green onions, cumin and I don’t remember what else. Made into patties and dehydrated.  I made these pretty thin, so I actually had two patties in this ‘burger’.

Last, but not least, is my breakfast from this morning:

100% raw breakfast cookie

100% raw breakfast cookie

This is NOT the typical cookie with oats. I have found that I do better when I don’t eat oats–even gluten free ones. This cookie is made with Quinoa Flakes. I know some people (Heather:) are not a fan of these flakes, but when it’s the ONLY ‘grain’ you can digest, you learn to make the best of it:) Quinoa is not even technically a grain. Anyway, I put quinoa flakes, 1 Tbs. hemp protein powder, 1 Tbs. raw sunbutter, raw coconut milk, organic raisins(new food for me–keep your fingers crossed), raw agave,  and cinnamon. I try not to use agave much at all, but felt like this would need it since quinoa does have a distinct flavor. I am allergic to stevia so that is not an option for me. I let the cookie sit in the fridge over night and gobbled it up after yoga this morning! I WILL be making this on a regular basis! You can find the original recipe here.

So, these are just a few of my yummy eats lately! Have you tried anything new lately? I would love to hear about it:)
